Orex Griff… In the arenas of the Tygon Dominon, his name is legendary. He was considered one of the most skilled and honorable gladiators in the galaxy. And in Talon’s short, brutal life, Orex is one of the few living beings to ever form a lasting bond with the young warrior.
Orex was a Minotaran, an ancient species who worship the First One known as Iberon. Although he was formerly a Temple Guardian, he left that holy order behind when his planet was invaded by militaristic zealots known as the Theocracy of Balag.
After helping a ship of refugees escape this brutal enemy, Orex was captured by slavers and sold to Rufa Omdura. Despite winning 100 victories, and earning the freedom Rufa promised him, Orex chose to remain in the nobleman’s service for reasons unknown to Talon, or indeed anyone other than Rufa and Orex himself.
After discovering Talon in the Blood Pits of Saludin Six, Orex served as the youth’s trainer, and became a father figure to the confused human warrior. The crystal in Talon’s eye reacted to Orex’s touch, forming a dark energy bond with the Minotaran. This bond allowed Talon to speak standard galactic, and mimic Orex’s fighting techniques with a variety of weapons.
Sadly, Orex passed away years ago, a victim of a coward’s poisoned blade in the arena. Or at least, that is what Talon had been led to believe…
